Google has made Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash video generation available at no cost in Google Vids to anyone with a Google or Google Workspace account. Users can begin on the desktop version of Vids by selecting “Create AI videos.” Google presents the feature as accessible without professional editing skills or a large production budget.
The model can generate new AI video scenes in full 1080p HD. It can also upscale existing AI-generated clips so they can be combined on the same timeline. Another control lets creators specify an exact clip duration, which Google says can help align a scene with a story or an existing voiceover.
Users can extend a scene rather than generating a disconnected replacement. Google claims Omni 1.1 creates a smooth transition while retaining visual context, lighting, character appearance and the surrounding environment. The announcement does not provide independent testing or measurements of how reliably that consistency is maintained.
Google Vids also provides ready-made templates. The company suggests using them for product launches, promotional videos assembled from product photographs, landing pages, social posts, digital event signage and videos for local events or fundraisers. These are vendor-proposed applications rather than evidence that the output will meet every organization’s production requirements.
Every clip generated with Omni 1.1 in Vids contains an imperceptible SynthID digital watermark embedded in its video frames. According to Google, this enables viewers to verify that the material was AI-generated. The post does not say that this provenance information will automatically be displayed to viewers when a clip is published on an external platform.
Practical context: Free access lowers the entry barrier for occasional promotional or internal video work, but Google does not quantify the included generation pool in this announcement. Personal Google AI plans offer more access, while Workspace Business and Enterprise plans include expanded generation pools and centralized administration. In practice, an account’s capacity limits will help determine whether Vids is suitable for recurring production.
Google separately previewed a text-to-speech feature powered by Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite. It is intended to turn typed scripts into natural-sounding voiceovers in more than 100 languages. Because Google labels it “coming soon,” the narration feature was not presented as an available part of the Omni 1.1 release on September 23.
