Google Unifies Vertical Video Buying in Display & Video 360
Google has introduced Vertical Video Unification for Display & Video 360, bringing programmatic buying and measurement of vertical video across channels into one platform. The company says the solution consolidates vertical-video inventory from publishers into a single workflow rather than requiring advertisers to manage channel-specific purchases separately.
The launch is intended to give advertisers a centralized way to purchase and assess vertical-video placements across publishers. Google presents this unified approach as an alternative to siloed buying strategies, which can divide campaign management and audience measurement among separate channels.
Gemini also supports buying, campaign execution and full-funnel measurement within Display & Video 360, according to Google. The company says the platform can deliver campaign performance while limiting repeated exposure of the same users to the same advertisements, although the announcement does not quantify that frequency-control benefit.
In initial testing, Unilever’s Hellmann’s brand and WPP Media recorded a 24% increase in unique reach while reducing cost per unique user by 25%, Google reported. These figures describe one initial test cited by the vendor and should not be treated as guaranteed outcomes for other advertisers or campaigns.
Practical context: For campaign planners, the practical shift is that vertical video can be managed as a unified cross-channel campaign rather than a collection of isolated placements. Centralized reach and frequency measurement could make overlapping audiences easier to identify and manage, though actual results will depend on campaign configuration and the publisher inventory available through the platform.
Google’s announcement does not specify launch markets, a rollout schedule, supported publishers or access requirements. It also provides no methodology, duration or absolute baseline figures for the Hellmann’s and WPP Media test. The reported percentage changes therefore remain vendor-supplied results rather than an independently documented benchmark.
